Mexican singer Julieta Venegas stars in an endearing musical production written by Santiago Loza and directed by Guillermo Cacace, the same duo involved in the acclaimed El mar de noche.

La enamorada, a one-woman show starring Mexican singer Julieta Venegas, tells of the crucial moment when a woman takes the floor. We’ll never know if she was able to say everything she wanted, but at least ‘she was able to say something’. This turning point in her life clearly marks the end of her submission to what’s normal and to inertia. The star of the show is constantly trying to put together a tale that is always unravelling. Something dies, something’s born … everything’s going on, but without making a commotion. It’s a musical journey in which the audience witnesses something personal, with seemingly childish confessions and the existential strength of a being with no certainties, but who needs to find her place in the world using another approach. Written by Santiago Loza for this artist and directed by renowned director Guillermo Cacace, the pair have already worked together before on the moving play El mar de noche, part of the Santiago a Mil 2018 program.

“Julieta Venegas moves us deeply with her delivery, her stage presence (…) She aims to make the audience complicit and ends up making her confessions resound with those listening, in an intimate, cathartic, confessional and captivating ceremony”.
